The company started to create collaborative solutions and launched several R&amp;D projects.<\/p><p>One of these new projects was to address a <span style=\"color: #ff5c39;\">need identified in passenger screening and other similar areas that users accessed<\/span>. The trays used to hold personal items during security screening are continually reused and often have a very high level of turnover. Screening cannot be stopped due to a lack of trays, which means the trays are handled by a large number of people in a short period of time.\u00a0 In this way, they become a <span style=\"color: #ff5c39;\">major source of infections, not only due to coronavirus, but also due to other viruses and bacteria<\/span>.<\/p><p>The problem that was observed was also supported by studies such as the one by the <span style=\"color: #ff5c39;\">University of Nottingham<\/span> and the <span style=\"color: #ff5c39;\">Finnish National Institute of Health and Welfare<\/span>. This research project, conducted at Helsinki-Vantaa airport in Finland, concluded that the <span style=\"color: #ff5c39;\">plastic trays used at security checkpoints have the highest level of pathogens among frequently trafficked areas<\/span>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-422717e elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"422717e\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\" data-settings=\"{&quot;pix_scale_in&quot;:&quot;none&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-9fb9b05\" data-id=\"9fb9b05\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\" data-settings=\"{&quot;pix_scale_in&quot;:&quot;none&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f1b0ace elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f1b0ace\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">AUTOMATION AND SUSTAINABILITY, HAND IN HAND<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ab99cab elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ab99cab\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Once the problem was detected, a long phase of research and development began. This culminated in the invention of a<span style=\"color: #ff5c39;\"> new automated system that used UV-C light to disinfect trays used by passengers and staff at security checkpoints in airports and other transport terminals<\/span>. The equipment, designed to be integrated as an additional element in these control areas, allows passengers to regain confidence and a security when travelling. It is also sustainable and environmentally friendly solution since it avoids the use of detergents or other chemical products.<\/p><p>The system makes it easier to transport the trays and disinfects them using <span style=\"color: #ff5c39;\">UV-C light<\/span> that is applied to the entire surface of the trays. Additionally,<span style=\"color: #ff5c39;\"> it avoids any handling<\/span> of the trays thanks to a device that stacks and loads the trays onto the trolleys used for their distribution. This meant continuing to invest in innovation throughout difficult situation.
