Gas leaks can go unnoticed until it is too late. Detectors exist, but they do not prevent explosions. Today, that risk can be eliminated. Technological innovator Antonio Frades has created SafeGas, a device that combines constant monitoring, immediate alerts, and preventive action. A device designed to save lives. Chosen as one of the best inventions in Spain in 2017, it has been featured prominently in Emprendedores magazine.
Antonio witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of a gas leak explosion. After that sad experience, he decided that there must be a better way to protect people before the worst happens. He devoted years to research, even founding the company “Estudios y Aplicaciones Electrónicas” in Madrid, and is a founding partner of the company Safe Build.
This led him to develop and patent SafeGas, a unique safety device that:

What sets Safe Gas apart from other devices? At the slightest gas leak, it eliminates the electrical spark, which is one of the three elements necessary for an explosion to occur.
- Automatic shut-off. It interrupts the gas and electricity supply, making it impossible to reactivate them until the risk has disappeared. This prevents any spark from detonating the leak.
- Real-time alerts. It alerts the owner via an audible alarm on a small portable device called Safe Life, equipped with a light so it can be used as a flashlight. This allows immediate action to be taken and prevents fatal consequences.
It can be installed in homes, restaurants, hotels, factories, and residences. It has a simple design that does not rely on complex technical installations or expensive systems. New capabilities have been added to prevent electrical fires and carbon monoxide poisoning.
Currently, thousands of spaces, homes, and businesses are protected by Safe Gas. This is another example of how technological innovation in Spain saves lives.
