The value of designing automation machinery that does not yet exist: real success stories

“The best way to predict the future is to create it”

Peter Drucker

Today’s industrial intralogistics demands more than speed and precision: it strongly calls for ingenuity, imagination, and the technological capacity to design automation solutions that do not yet exist.

At TECNIMUSA, “when there is no solution, we invent and manufacture it.” Our approach to customized innovation begins by listening to the customer and analyzing their current intralogistics flows in order to develop new machines from scratch that meet current and future needs.

Custom automation means designing and manufacturing specific solutions for unique processes. And when that engineering is combined with the curiosity and creativity of our team, it opens the door to a new generation of machines that redefine what is possible. This is what we do.

TECNIMUSA: a long journey of R&D that continues to evolve

Our innovative nature is the result of years of R&D dedicated to inventing the unknown. Behind every idea and design lies accumulated experience and a strong focus on creativity. This is what allows us to imagine and reimagine what is possible, in order to optimize and revolutionize internal industrial logistics.

We have been working for more than 15 years developing intralogistics automation projects for leading multinationals. Since our inception, we have invested a high percentage of our budget in Research and Development. We increase this budget every year.

We combine all this acquired knowledge with the insatiable curiosity of our team of engineers to explore new limits and surpass every idea. This is how we tackle new challenges, offer new perspectives, and create machines that transform the way we operate.

This ongoing commitment to innovation has enabled us to register numerous patents and develop unique solutions for intralogistics automation. In fact, many of the machines we now present as standard were born years ago as radical and innovative ideas to meet specific requirements that, at the time, had no commercial solution.

Success stories: Machines that didn’t exist… and are now market leaders

The ability to invent unique technologies is reflected in each specific case. In some, the pioneering idea is still making a difference today and has remained a benchmark. In other cases, thanks to our commitment to continuous improvement, we have redesigned our own machines to keep them at the forefront in terms of functionality, sustainability, and visual aesthetics.

Let’s explore two emblematic examples:

Box closing and sealing machine that redefined intralogistics efficiency

More than 16 years ago, INDITEX, a leading multinational fashion company, approached us with the need to close and seal thousands of daily order boxes automatically, economically, and sustainably. They had three specific requirements:

  • Reuse cardboard boxes in your internal logistics operations.
  • Working with boxes filled beyond their capacity.
  • Operate with different formats of box.

The result? We conceived, designed, and manufactured an automatic box closing and sealing machine with the capacity to:

  • Seal overfilled boxes up to 20% above their capacity. This represents significant savings in transportation.
  • Close boxes half-empty.
  • Operate with cardboard boxes new or used, giving packaging a double life and improving logistics sustainability.
  • Automatically detect and adjust to different box formats, ensuring line continuity.

The success of the box closing and sealing machine led to its inclusion in our catalog of fully mass-produced machines. It remains the only reliable solution that works with both new and reused boxes. In addition, its design has evolved comprehensively.

We stay aligned with current and future industry trends and needs, such as user-centered design and modularity. We have redesigned this machine to make it more adaptable to textile and fashion industry environments, to incorporate new features, and to maximize its reliability.

  • Today, its structure is more compact, with a more attractive visual aesthetic, clean lines, and smooth curves. Its modular architecture allows functionality to be added or removed as needed. It features a more intuitive interface with two touchscreens to improve usability. It incorporates elements that facilitate maintenance and offer operational ergonomics.

Our box closing and sealing machine continues to redefine mass packaging efficiency. It is currently closing 1,200 boxes/hour in nearly 90 intralogistics spaces.

The smart design of the hanging garment counter

Another example in the textile production line can be found in the garment on hanger counter. It adapts to different types of lines and garments.

  • It counts up to 50,000 units/hour with high precision. No manual intervention required.
  • It incorporates sensors that identify each block of garments and send the batch identifier and number of items to the control system in real time.
  • You can count garments with crossed hangers without stopping the line.
  • Accommodates different hanger thicknesses.
  • Supports chain speeds of up to 2 m/s.

It is a solution designed to ensure complete traceability of garments. It instantly detects dropped or missing items, diverting any incidents to the inspection line for correction.

This automatic counter was also redesigned to improve both its functionality and appearance. The result? A more robust and aesthetically pleasing device that blends in visually with the operating environments of the textile industry.

We look ahead to create machines that do not yet exist.

Innovation at TECNIMUSA does not end with the machines designed and built. Our vision and work are always focused on the future, anticipating the most appropriate solutions for the industrial sector. Our engineers keep an eye on trends, the most advanced technologies, and technological innovations that are transforming the way we operate and facilitating the transition to a greener industry.

The supply chain of the future will demand total modular flexibility and ecological commitment. We are already working on and offering easily reconfigurable systems that can adapt to the job, speed, type of cardboard box, type of garment, etc. Solutions that optimize ergonomics, guarantee traceability, and facilitate data visualization. We continue to design solutions that consume less energy and equipment that promotes the recycling of packaging materials.

We remain committed to greater efficiency. We continue to research, innovate, and create.

We align ourselves with and stay ahead of the global trend toward sustainability and efficiency in industrial intralogistics. Because the best way to face the future is to imagine it and create it.

We are an engineering company that delivers added value in each of our eco-efficient automation solutions for industrial intralogistics. Innovation is in our DNA and MUSA is in our name: TECNIMUSA.
